Same-Sex Marriage Debate Continues in North Carolina
In the state of North Carolina, there is a massive debate over the right to allow same-sex marriage.
While the Senate just voted to put a ban on same-sex marriage on the next ballot, an equality rights group has started to raise funds to oppose the ban. If the ban is approved by voters in the next election, it will be placed in the state constitution to prevent same-sex partners from ever getting married in North Carolina.
The state would join 30 others that already have similar bans in their state constitutions. This simple vote has cost millions of dollars to defend or support as national Human Rights organizations have come forward to make sure their side wins the vote.
