Italian Woman Files for Divorce After Mother-in-Law Joins Honeymoon
An Italian couple is filing for divorce because the bride is too frustrated with her husband and her mother-in-law, who came along on the honeymoon with them because, as the husband claims, she was ill.
Stefano, the husband, allowed his mother to come with them on their honeymoon to Paris and even booked her a room in the same five star hotel in which they were staying. This was the last straw for the wife, Marianna, because her mother-in-law already lived next door to them. Marianna moved back to her hometown of Naples; her husband and his mother stayed in Rome. She is not seeking alimony payments, and they have no children, so
child custody is not an issue.
This situation is not terribly uncommon in Italy; many men live with their mothers well into their 30s, even after they have found work. 90% of them do not move out of their homes until they are married.
