High Costs of Divorce

Divorce can sometimes be an expensive process, especially when involved in a  contested divorce where both spouses are fighting each other over property distributionchild custody or other divorce terms. In other countries outside of the United States, the cost of divorce in certain towns can actually be astronomical.

In Romania, officials in a town of about 8,000 people recently enacted a law that caused the fee for divorce to climb exponentially to almost 60 percent of the population's average annual salary. Town officials stated recently according to some reports that the law was passed in order to discourage divorce, a tactic which has apparently already paid off as three couples decided to stay married after learning about the bill.

While very few divorces in the United States will be as costly as some other countries can be, it is possible for a divorce to be very expensive indeed, especially if you are involved in an prolonged court process, arguing with your spouse about settling divorce matters.

At the Hopper Law Firm, we understand the need for divorces to be settled in the best way possible, with as little expense as can be managed. If we can help you file for your divorce and settle the matters outside of court, we will do everything we can so that you and your spouse can work to ensure that outcome occurs. In the event that your rights as a parent or spouse are threatened, we are not afraid to fight aggressively on your behalf.
