Cpl. John Wimunc Pleads Guilty to Wife's Murder
Two years ago, Holley Wimunc's apartment caught fire and she was missing. Three days later, her remains were found near Camp Lejune, buried in a shallow grave, shot, dismembered, and burnt. She had been wrapped in an air mattress.
She was married to a Marine at Camp Lejune, Cpl. John Wimunc, who was charged with her murder not long after her remains were found. Two years later, he has plead guilty to first degree murder, as well as arson and conspiracy to commit arson. By pleading guilty, Wimunc will not be sentenced to death, although he will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole. Holley was 24 when she died; John is just now 23.
The other Marine indicted in her death is Lance Cpl. Kyle Alden. The 22 year old is facing charges of arson, conspiracy to commit arson, and accessory after the fact of a felony.
