Bigamy and Custody Battle Receives National Attention

In January of 2009, Lynn France found confirmation that her husband was not only cheating on her, but had married another woman without divorcing her. John France, 63, claims that his marriage to Lynn was never valid because of a clerical error and that she knew about the wedding for months beforehand. France doesn't mention, however, that Lynn only had knowledge of the engagement and affair because followed him to a hotel and caught him with the other woman, Amanda, who is 25 and said they were engaged.
Both parties have gone on national television to explain their side of the story, although the stories don't entirely match up. The two are now engaged in a custody battle regarding their two children, who are currently residing with John France and his new wife in Florida. The custody battle prevents the children from leaving Florida, meaning that they cannot go home to see their mother. John claims he has bought plane tickets for Lynn to visit her children but she has refused to do so.
Although John has insinuated that Lynn is mentally unstable and that his children are better protected and cared for in Florida, his actions question the validity of his statements.
